LITTLE Owls Pre-School in Taunton, which has a waiting list of over a year, is going from strength to strength.

Little Owls has been running for nearly 30 years and has been based in the grounds of North Town School for the past ten years.

Manager Angie Conibere has been there 27 years and said she still loves the job as much as ever.

“I love teaching this age group because you can tell them anything and they’ll want to know and listen,” she said.

“They’re all so inquisitive, you only need to tell them something once and they’ve soaked the information up.”

Little Owls has 59 children on the roll, all aged between six months and five years.

The children come in for different sessions during the day, all catered to their needs and ages.

Angie added: “We use the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, so everything we do for the children is tailored around that.

“For example, we use activities and toys to help them with their mathematical development or to help with their social skills.

“We plan activities around each individual child’s interest.

“Each child has a key person assigned to them so they can track their progression, and having that key person means we all know the children, we know what they like or dislike and it helps us build a good relationship with the parents.”

This is something Angie says is a strength of Little Owls, along with her dedicated team of staff.

“We worked out that between us we have 92 years of experience and they’re also so consistent in their jobs and dedicated,” she said.

“We have a great relationship with the parents – they always bring their children in and have a chat if need to.

“We want to ensure that the children are confident, happy little people, so that their transition to big school is a smooth one.”
