RUNNER Andy Reid raised £1,120 for cancer charity the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) by completing the Yeovil Half Marathon.

Among the donations to the County Gazette-backed charity, which buys equipment for the Beacon Centre, at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, were the following amounts in 5p coins - £2 from Sheila Tutt; £2.35 from Janet Hewitson; £17.75 from, Tina and Andrew Potter, friends and family; £8.10 from Bernard and Mary Spilsbury; £19 from the New Horizon Singers; £2 from Dave Fisher; and an anonymous donation of £2.50.

There was also a £10 donation from Mr Hendry; £130 from a raffle at the Beacon Bunch Lunch Group of Chard; £15 from Jennie Cooper in lieu of a 90th birthday present for Heinz Klimpke; and a further £33 from Mike and Angie Rees following their golden wedding party night - which means the total exceeded £250.

Collection pots realised £15.53 at Lizzies Kitchen, Burnham; £2.98 from AOB, at Burnham; and £13.86 from Rosie's Larder, in Wellington.

The collection from the Beacon Centre, was £102.65 of which £97.65 was in 5ps.

This week’s total of £1,496.72 means £520, 972.21 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
