ALMOST £1,400 has been raised to help keep Somerset’s mobile chemotherapy unit “Bumble” on the road thanks to generous audience members of the Taunton Amateur Operatic Society’s Sister Act.

Bumble holds a special place in the heart of TAOS member Louise Doolan from Minehead.

She was halfway through rehearsals for the part of leading lady Deloris when she found the cancer she had been treated for in 2013 had returned.

Louise was left with no option but to make the heartbreaking decision to pull out of the show.

Instead she took her work backstage and chose Hope for Tomorrow – which runs Bumble – as the beneficiary charity for a collection following the performances at the Tacchi-Morris last month.

Louise said: “Hope for Tomorrow helped me, then and now, to have my chemotherapy closer to home.

"The amount of money raised means so much to me, as I know what a difference this will make to others going through treatment.”

Bumble was launched in 2010 and is staffed by NHS chemotherapy nurses.
