WATERSIDE House residents celebrated the completion of their new community garden with a fete.
On Sunday, Taunton Mayor Marcia Hill and chair of Knightstone Housing, Nick Medhurst, joined residents for the fete.
The event was organised by Waterside House’s Resident Events Group (REG).
They are a group of residents who volunteer their time to arrange events for the whole community, working with Knightstone’s Community Empowerment Team.
The community garden was developed after residents applied to Knightstone for a grant to repurpose a previously unused space by their flats.
Work began in May after a grant for £40,000 was received.
The Mayor officially opened the garden at the fete.
Kerry Pearcey, a member of the Resident Events Group said: “The fete and garden opening ceremony went really well and it was good to see some new faces. We gained a new REG member and hopefully we will have the same success with our summer holiday club.”
Nick Medhurst, chair of Knightstone, said: “It was a privilege to be involved in this event.
"At Knightstone, we believe in the importance of thriving communities and we invest heavily in working with residents to help improve communities in their neighbourhoods.
"The residents have done an excellent job in arranging the event and should be extremely proud of their achievements”.
