STUDENTS from QUeen's College, Taunton, won gold and silver awards in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, an exam-style competition for the most able Year 12 chemists.

The competition aims to stretch and challenge students interested in chemistry with problem solving questions in unfamiliar contexts.

Those who perform best win an invitation to a residential camp at the University of Cambridge at the end of August and are sent certificates of achievements.

Last year Queen’s College student Angus Yeung won silver and was offered a place to read chemistry at Oxford University.

This year head boy Oscar Webb gained gold, with Matthew Pugh, Matthew Brown, Will Tidy and Bowen Zhang won silver award and Tom Allen and Bailey Turner achieved copper awards.
