MONKTON Elm Garden and Pet Centre, of Monkton Heathfield, has won the Best Destination Garden Centre award at the Garden Centre Association Wales and West regional awards.

It also received the award for Best Garden Products Retailer.

Store manager Steve Searle said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been named Best Destination Garden Centre in the Wales and West region.

“The awards are decided by results of annual inspections by the GCA, which we are a member of.

"Myself and our other store manager Andrew Pitman would like to say a huge congratulations to all of the staff that make the garden centre what it is and who put in hours and hours of extremely hard work.

“Winning the title of Best Destination Garden Centre is a testament to all of the hard work we have put into our brand new restaurant, which opened in April this year."

He added: “We will now be re-inspected later in the year and will compete against Destination Garden Centres from other regions for the prestigious title of Destination Garden Centre of the Year, which will be announced during the GCA annual conference in January, 2016.”

The Best Destination Garden Centre award is the second award win of the year for the garden centre after it picked up a large gold medal and ‘Best in Show’ for its Alice in Wonderland display garden at the Taunton Flower Show in August.
