SUPPORTERS of Taunton-based cancer charity Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment have been busy over the past week, raising over £2,300.
The cash will help the County Gazette-backed SURE buy equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
Donations included £21 from the collection pot at Rosie's Larder, Wellington, an anonymous donation of £1.90 in 5p coins and £60 in 5ps from Jane Fear, family and friends in Spaxton - Jane also raised £1,400 from a coffee evening and raffle in her garden in August.
There was £55 in 5ps from Hemyock Short Mat Bowling Club, £200 from the residents of Nunsfield Court Sheltered Housing Scheme, Taunton, from raffles at their social evenings and £200 in 5ps collected by Reg Hooper from friends at the Lawns Social Club, Taunton.
A bucket collection at Tesco, in Taunton, raised £176.20, while there was a £112 donation from a Ladies' Book Group, in Watchet, and £97.46 from the Beacon Centre, mostly in 5ps and including £5 from Dan and Gaynor.
The week's total to £2323.56 means £546,264.29 has been raised for SURE since it linked up with the Gazette.
