A TOTAL of 225 walkers in 41 teams took to the footpaths, bridleways, lanes and tracks for the annual night-time Moonraker Challenge.
Participants followed clues, directions and map references and were checked in at each stage of the route from Taunton Racecourse to Staple Plain in the Blackdown Hills, taking in Pitminster and Thurlbear Woods.
Conditions were dry underfoot, with only minor problems caused by mist at higher levels.
The event was organised by Taunton Vale Rotary Club, with refreshments served by members of Inner Wheel, radio contact provided by RayNet and First Ambulance on hand for safety cover.
It is expected that over £10,000 will have been raised in sponsorship for Rotary charities Reminiscence Learning and Conquest Centre Riding for the Disabled.
