TWO fire crews have been called to a fire at Coral in Taunton after a light fitting started smouldering.

The shop was evacuated after the alarm went off and two fire crews from Taunton were sent to the scene.

The incident took place in Priorswood Place, Taunton at 2.20pm today.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service confirmed a light fitting had blown and there was a strong smell of smoke in the shop.

There had been a small fire caused by the light fitting, but after inspection using a thermal imaging camera was confirmed to be out.

Damage by the fire was described as 'light' by the fire service, and there was 5% smoke damage to the room.

Duty of care was left with the staff of the shop.
