WILL Young has been announced as the second artist performing at next year's Somerset Rocks event in Taunton

He will take to the outdoor stage on Saturday, August 27, the second evening of Somerset Rocks, the three-night music event being held in Taunton’s Vivary Park during the August bank holiday weekend.

Will said: “Performing is what I love to do. Hearing my fans singing back to my music and seeing their reactions when I perform some of my old favourites and new hits, makes it very special for me.

“I can’t wait to get back on the stage in the summer – it’s going to be a fantastic show.”

Will Young shot to fame as the first ever winner of ITV’s Pop Idol and has had recent success with his number one album 85% Proof.

His show is the second of three scheduled as part of Somerset Rocks.

St Margaret’s Somerset Rocks is being promoted and organised with LCC Live, the same partnership that brought Rod Stewart to Taunton in 2014.

Les Kidger, director of LCC Live, the concert promoter for Somerset Rocks, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing Will Young to Taunton, as part of Somerset Rocks, a three-night music event, and expect Will to be a massive hit and for tickets to sell quickly.

“To have confirmed Will Young and Jools Holland, both of who are outstanding musicians and live performers, for Somerset Rocks is exciting and we promise the final artist, which we hope to confirm in the next week, is as impressive.”

Somerset Rocks will also help to raise awareness for St Margaret’s Hospice.

Ann Lee, chief executive of St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have confirmed Will Young for the Saturday night of Somerset Rocks.

"The line-up so far is superb and we look forward to welcoming Will Young and Jools Holland to Taunton.

“Somerset Rocks will help to raise awareness of the work we do at our Taunton and Yeovil Hospices. Each year we care for over 3200 patients living with life limiting conditions in Somerset.”

Tickets for Will Young’s show go on sale at 9am on Friday, December 4, priced from £37.50 and are available online at: www.ticketline.co.uk or by phone: 08448-889991 or from St Margaret’s Hospice’s shops across Somerset.
