THE fire service were called to a homeless shelter in Taunton after one of the residents reported smelling burning.
One fire engine from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service was sent to the scene in Upper High Street, Taunton shortly after 7pm.
The resident reported a smell of burning but no sign of any smoke or flames.
On arrival the crew confirmed the alarms were activating.
After investigating, they found there had been a small fire in one of the flats involving a plastic bottle that had been left on top of a cooker hob, but that it was out on arrival.
