A CHILD has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into her.
Emergency services rushed to the incident on Parkfield Drive, Taunton, close to Musgrove Park Hospital shortly before 8am this morning.
The child, a young girl, suffered head, arm and leg injuries in the crash.
It is not yet known if the injuries are life-threatening, but it has been described as a serious crash by the police.
She has been taken to Bristol Children's Hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the crash has also been launched by police.
A spokesman from South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a child and a car at 7.54am this morning.
"We did attend, and the child suffered head injuries.
"We took her to Bristol Children's Hospital for treatment."
A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called at 8.30am to reports of a collision involving a car and female pedestrian.
"The girl has head, arm and leg injuries and has been taken into the hospital.
"We are at the scene and carrying out investigations."
