THINKING about buying a lottery ticket this Saturday?

Well if your postcode begins with TA - you should.

The National Lottery has revealed that the Taunton (TA) postcode is officially one of the luckiest in the country for high tier wins (£50,000 and above) per person.

In the last 10 years, the area has become the seventh luckiest in the UK for the most winners pocketing over £50,000.

With 121 postcodes in the ranking, this is no small claim.

Since The National Lottery launched in 1994, TA has seen 190 high tier winners and an impressive 14 millionaires created.

Recent winners with this postcode include Dione and Richard Buss, from Bridgwater, who won almost £1.9m in October 2013.

A National Lottery spokesperson said, “Taunton’s Lotto luck is certainly among the country’s best for big wins.

"The likelihood of winning over £50,000 is high in this postcode, which is certainly cause for celebration.

“There are now a massive 4,250 National Lottery millionaires across the country and with more than six new millionaires made every week there is likely to be another local winner made soon.”

It isn’t just individuals winning big, the entire community benefits from the money raised by The National Lottery.

In 2015 63 grants of £1,546,000 were distributed to National Lottery funded projects in the Taunton local authority area.

Local schools, universities and community projects all benefitted from the National Lottery Good Causes funding grants, including Otterford Parish Hall Committee, Local NCT Services, In the Mix Youth Project and Hestercombe Gardens Trust.

Each National Lottery player helps to raise over £34M every week for Good Causes.

This helps fund our athletes competing at Rio, the nation’s arts and heritage, and many thousands of projects in local communities across the UK.
