A CHIMNEY fire at a property in Muchelney was tackled by fire crews from Martock.
Crews were called to a property on Silver Street at 8.54pm.
One engine was originally sent to deal with the fire, however when crews arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the property and requested a second engine to attend.
Crews got to work from the hearth and also confirmed the loft was heavily smoke logged and ventilated the loft space.
There was fire damage to a structural oak beam, and a building surveyor was called to assess the damage.
Crews removed floor boards from the first floor to check for fire spread.
At 11.34pm, crews confirmed the fire had been extinguished.
