AN ELDERLY man has suffered potentially life-changing injuries to his back following a crash in Staple Fitzpaine this morning.
The man has been taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said they were called to the road traffic collision on Staple Hill near to the Greyhound Inn just after 10am.
The spokesperson added: "We were called to reports of a two-car road traffic collision near The Greyhound Inn.
"A man in his 70s has a back injury which is potentially life-changing.
"A person from the other car has been taken to hospital.
"The road is currently blocked as a power pole has been destroyed, Western Power have been advised."
A spokesperson for South West Ambulance Service added: "A 73-year-old male has got potentially life-changing injuries to his back and has been taken to hospital."
