A MAN was bitten during a robbery in Taunton after getting the suspect into a headlock.

The victim, a 55-year-old man, was walking along Queen Street at around 2pm on Saturday, July 16.

He was holding a bag of shopping and a purse, when another man came up and tried to snacth the purse. 

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A man came up behind the victim and tried to snatch the purse, resulting in a struggle.

"The victim managed to get the man into a headlock but he was bitten and the offender ran off with his purse towards Albert Court.

"The offender then approached the man again in Albert Court and threw the purse back at him after removing a small amount of cash."

The wanted man is described as white, in his twenties, about 5ft 10ins, of slight build, with short brown hair.

He was wearing a light coloured hooded top with the hood up and a green/brown coat.
