A cyclist needed hospital treatment after a hit and run motorist drove off following a collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the fail-to-stop incident in Taunton last night (Wednesday, August 17).

The incident happened at about 10.45pm when the cyclist was riding along East Reach was in collision with a car.

He suffered leg injuries and was taken to hospital where he received treatment for a badly bruised leg.

The car involved was a dark coloured saloon and is believed to have driven along Victoria Street after the incident.

It is likely to have damage to the front of vehicle.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information to help our enquiries.

"We would also appeal to local garages and vehicle repair businesses to be vigilant for anyone requiring urgent work to be done on the front of their car."
