TAUNTON'S library will be transformed into a "Fun Palace", offering a free day of arts, culture, and sciences for all to get involved in.

The creative day will take place on Saturday October 1, and the event is part of Fun Palaces 2016, a free nationwide celebration of community.

Fun Palaces bring people together to create and have fun through arts and sciences, and people are being encouraged to visit the library to share their talents and discover the hidden talents in their community.

Cllr David Hall, Somerset County Council’s cabinet member responsible for Libraries, said: “As cultural venues, libraries are well placed to enable communities to interact with each other through art, culture and sciences.

" I am pleased to see Fun Palaces taking off in Somerset as it demonstrates what can be achieved by working in partnership with the community.”

At Taunton Library, people are welcome to drop in between 10 am and 4.30pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to get hands-on with electronics and robotics, try out the 3D printing available, take part in games with the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts or get crafty with Somerset and Bristol Branch Butterfly Conservation.
