FOOD glorious food will be whipped, baked, cooked and of course tasted at Taunton's first ever food festival.

The Brew Food Festival takes place at The Brewhouse Theatre on October 8 and 9, and to celebrate the event, a launch pop up was held at The Orchard Shopping Centre.

From the nutritional to the healthy, and to the indulgently naughty but nice, there will be something for everyone.

The festival will be split into portions; including a street food zone, a cookery theatre will live demonstrations and a food market featuring some of the South West's finest produce.

Children can also get involved too as there will be the award-winning "fun kitchen", with workshops, and an activity tent where you can get down and dirty with homemade vegetable paints, flash mob dancing and creating fantastic food.

At the pop up event, visitors were able to experience a taster of what will be on offer, while also raising funds for the Taunton Food Bank.

The festival has been organised by Michelle Beck (By Invitation Events) and Annabel McCabe (Click Your Heels Events).

Michelle said: “We have fantastic and diverse produce in Somerset and the South West and we really wanted to showcase it the form of a food festival here in Taunton.

"It’s so important to partner with supportive local businesses to ensure the success of The Brew Food Festival and we have been very lucky in gaining support and a grant from TDBC and sponsorship from main sponsor Richard John Signature Kitchens, The Co-op, Porter Dodson, Nandos, Cotleigh Brewery, Universal Marquees,The Castle Hotel, The Boathouse Tearoom as well as our food media partner, Food Magazine."

Having previously owned a Taste of the West award winning pub Annabel has always championed using nearby suppliers.

She added: “I am passionate about the field to fork ethos and by giving small producers a platform to promote what they do, it opens food up to the whole family.

“We could also see the synergy with food and the arts so The Brewhouse is the perfect partner and location for The Brew Food Festival.”
