A WOMAN from Wiveliscombe has braved the shave and raised more than £3,000 after chopping off her locks for charity.

Sarah Ware, a hairdresser, decided to have her hair cut off to raise money for the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital.

She was inspired to the the challenge after her mum, Maria Bloomfield’s, battle with cancer, who received treatment at Musgrove.

Mrs Ware said: “I have raised more than £3,000 so far.

“I wanted to do it for my mum who is currently going through a battle with cancer. I wanted her to know that we are all in this together.

“I chose to raise money for the Beacon Centre because they have done so much for my family, I wanted to give something back.”

The shave took place at The Bear Inn in Wiveliscombe where her friends and family turned up to support her.

Norman Bloomfield, Mrs Ware’s step-father, said: “I can’t believe how many people showed up to support Sarah.

“It was such a nice thing for her to do for her mum.”
