AN 18-strong team of staff from the Taunton branch of the HSBC bank raised more than £1,700 for the new Taunton Dementia Action Alliance on a 13-mile sponsored walk.
They trekked from Lowells, on the Devon border, along the Grand Western Canal, following the River Tone to Bishop's Hull, passing through Longrun Meadow and back to their offices in North Street.
The HSBC was the first commercial company to join the alliance, which has been set up to improve the lives of people living with dementia and their carers and families.
The 18 staff have become dementia friends, trained by a 'champion' so that they understand what it is like to live with dementia, enabling them to support people affected by the condition.
A spokesman said: "The membership will be made up of local businesses, retail, community groups, schools and colleges, residential homes and charities, as well as health and care providers.
"A dementia friendly community is one that shows a high level of public awareness and understanding so that those living with dementia are encouraged to seek help and support by their community."
