A HORSE had to be rescued after getting stuck in water.
Crews from Somerton and a specialist team from Bridgwater were called to the incident, in Beer Road, Aller, near Langport, at around 10.50am yesterday.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the animal was safely returned to dry land.
"On arrival, one eight-year-old mare was discovered in three foot of water with the front legs of the horse resting on the bank," he said.
"The horse was not in distress.
"Crews rescued the horse from the water using strops and a tractor from a nearby farmer."
The horse was checked over by a vet, he added.
