BEDDING in the doorway of a "well known" vacant department store caught on fire, causing fire crews to attend.
One engine from Taunton and one from Wellington were called to North Street in Taunton around 7pm yesterday (March 16).
Footage has been sent in by Lord Parker, a member of the public, showing the shocking footage of the fire.
The store has not been confirmed by the fire crew but is believed to be the former BHS shop as it is described as a "well known, vacant department store" and the video shows the fire outside the former shop.
The crews were concerned that the fire could spread to the rest of the building.
On arrival of the first engine, the officer in charge confirmed the fire appeared to be out on arrival, and that no further engines would be required.
The fire involved bedding in a doorway.
Crews damped the smouldering bedding down and left the scene safe.
