A CARE HOME in Taunton is celebrating after being awarded a 'Good' rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Calway House on Calway Road was inspected on January 30 and 31, and was graded on whether it was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

The Taunton care home was awarded a ‘Good’ rating in all areas.

While carrying out their inspection, CQC spoke with residents, relatives and health professionals: “The home continues to provide a caring service to people. Interactions between people and staff were very kind and caring.

"People told us staff were always kind and respectful. One person said ‘You can't fault them, they are very good.’"

During the inspection, CQC also looked at the training that staff were offered within Calway House.

The report praised the training under taken by staff and the enthusiasm shown for dementia care training.

Doreen Paisley, manager at Calway House, said: “I would like to take this opportunity thank the staff team for their commitment and dedication. This positive report is true reflection of how hard the team work to providing a high quality services to the residents here at Calway House.”
