SHOPPERS at a Taunton shopping centre were nothing short of suprised as a group of people broke into song as part of a flash mob.

Singers from Taunton's Company of Voices, staff from Somerset County Council and foster carers broke into song just after 12.30pm today in a flash mob to promote foster caring at Orchard Shopping Centre.

The group sung Lean on Me by Bill Withers in unison which saw many onlookers stop.

One onlooker, who wished to remain anonymous said: "I was so suprised walking into the shopping centre to see these people singing beautifully, I just had to stop and take pictures."

The unexpected performance drew crowds of shoppers and organisers hope the videos and pictures taken of the event will spread over social media.

Julie Richards, Communications Officer from Somerset County Council said: "There is a shortage of foster carers in Somerset.

"We need foster carers for children of all ages.

"We are always trying different ways to promote fostering and encourage people to consider if they can offer a child in need of a home."
