RICHARD Huish College students racked up 30 awards in this year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge.
Students celebrated their success after achieving six gold certificates, seven silver certificates and 17 bronze certificates.
More than 82,000 students from across the UK returned scripts for the Senior Mathematics Challenge with the top 10 per cent receiving gold certificates, the next 20 per cent silver and the next 30 per cent bronze. The top 4,600 students were invited to sit one of the follow-on competitions, either the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 or the Senior Kangaroo.
George Hayward,Year 13, was invited to sit the BMO1 and Adam Turner, Year 13, Taeho Kim, Tianrun Zhang, Yi Xin Zhang and Eleanor Shakespeare, Year 12, were invited to sit the Senior Kangaroo with Taeho Kim gaining a certificate of merit. Taeho Kim gained the award for Best in Year 12 having achieved a gold certificate and a certificate of merit in the Senior Kangaroo. George Hayward gained the award for the Best in School and Best in Year 13 having achieved a Gold Certificate and a Certificate of Participation in the BMO1.
The Senior Mathematics Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust.
