THE SCHOOL team behind a new charity bracelet has made it to the regional finals of a competition.
The Young Enterprise students from Taunton School triumphed at the Somerset County Finals, winning Best Trade Stand and Best Overall Company at the event that took place at The Castle on May 13.
The team will progress to the regional finals on June 14 in Gloucester.
The idea behind their venture is a charity bracelet that is made up of different coloured bands, with each colour representing a different charity.
The FUSION charity bracelet is designed with key ideals of the team with which they identify strongly – unity, peace, mindfulness and inclusivity.
The proceeds will go to charities British Red Cross, Oxfam, Stand Against Violence, CALM and Amnesty International. The bracelet comprises two coloured cords which can be mixed and matched, each colour representing a different charity.
The idea was formulated by the group of 15 students including lower sixth student Fred Wieser who is the managing director of the FUSION team.
He said: “We are really pleased to have got through to the regional finals with this product as it means a lot to the whole team.”
The bracelets have gained support from cricketers Marcus Trescothick and Tom Abell.
Mr Trescothick wore his bracelet on Sky Sports.
More than 350 bracelets have been sold so far, raising £1,500.
