FIRE crews are now packing up to leave Mitre Court after this morning's fire having limited its spread.
Police are also currently in attendance.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The fire was in the roof space of a second floor flat of a three-storey privately rented building measuring approximately 10m x 15m.
"The cause of the fire was accidental."
FIRE crews have been tackling a blaze in a three-storey property in Taunton this morning (Sunday).
Initially two fire engines and an operational assurance officer attended the incident in Mitre Court, off East Reach, Taunton, following calls to a roof fire at 10.05am.
Four people were accounted for and firefighters set to work with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one safety jet.
A further engine was summoned from Wellington to enable more personnel to join the operation.
Crews were reported to be making "steady progress" by 10.43am removing tiles from the roof and using working at height equipment and small tools.
