POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Taunton.
A spokesman said the incident took place in the car park on Castle Street, behind Lidl, between 4.30pm and 5pm last Tuesday (July 11).
He said a 40-year-old woman was attacked by a man.
As a result of police enquiries, a 43-year-old man has been charged with causing actual bodily harm and is due to stand trial next month.
Dec Sergeant Amanda Frame said: “This incident took place in a public place at a time when we are sure there would have been members of the public around.
“We need to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident and could help us with our investigation."
