WORK is progressing on an economy store and a gym in the Taunton town centre premises previously occupied by BHS.
Poundland Plus will occupy the ground floor of the North Street building, with a Snap Fitness-24-7 above.
A planning application has been submitted to Taunton Deane Borough Council to install signs on the front of the building.
A decision has not yet been taken made by the council.
The shopfront is currently boarded up while work is carried out to convert the BHS store.
Poundworld has more than 350 stores nationwide and sells most of its items for £1.
The store is bound to be in competition with nearby knockdown outlet Poundland.
A Poundworld spokesman said the company's Taunton store will open later this year, creating around 30 new jobs.
