A PROPERTY that has been blighting a neighbourhood after being used as an anti-social behaviour hub has been closed by police.

The neighbourhood police team in Taunton successfully secured a closure order after a spate of anti-social behaviour at a property in Leycroft Grove.

More than 50 calls relating to behaviour at the property have been made this May, including allegations of inappropriate use of motor vehicles, dealing of so-called legal highs and incidents of domestic arguments and assaults.

Officers with the Halcon One Team have been working with local residents and Taunton Deane Borough Council to obtain the order at Taunton Magistrates’ Court, which has led to the immediate closure of the property.

PC Jon O’Connor, who led the application, said: “This is a fantastic result for all involved and I’d like to thank the local residents for their support and resilience over the last few months.

“This order has brought an immediate and well-deserved end to their suffering and sends a clear message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated by the police or the local authority.

Cllr Jane Warmington, Executive Councillor for Community Leadership at TDBC, said: “I would like to acknowledge the tenacity and resilience of residents who had the confidence to report incidents so that evidence could be presented to the court.

"They didn’t want their community spoilt by this behaviour and we respected their privacy and confidentiality. This case was very much a collaborative effort that demonstrated true “One Team” working.”
