CARDIOLOGY staff will be rowing, cycling, walking and running to boost a £1 million appeal for an MRI scanner at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.

The fundraiser for the Love Musgrove campaign on Saturday, October 7, was the brainchild of consultant cardiologist Dr Mark Dayer.

And it took a personal turn for junior sister Claire Sowerby when an MRI scan diagnosed her teenage son, Braden, with a brain tumour earlier this year - thankfully it has been successfully removed.

Mrs Sowerby, a keen indoor rower, said: "He will have regular MRI scans moving forward to ensure he remains well.

"Due to the high demand on the current MRI service, the third scanner will help us and many other patients and their families over a whole range of conditions.."

Organisers in the event in the concourse at Musgrove have so far raised £1,133.24 towards their target of £5,000 - you can donate here.
