PLANS to open Poundworld has been delayed, the retail chain has confirmed.
Workers have been busy working to fit the new store which was hoped to open in the town centre on Thursday.
But a spokesman for Poundworld has confirmed it will now open in the former BHS premises next week.
Due to a minor delay with the fit out of our new store, Poundworld will now open in Taunton on Thursday 28th September at 10am, instead of 21st September as originally communicated’.
A spokesman said: “Due to a minor delay with the fit out of our new store, Poundworld will now open on Thursday, September 28 at 10am instead of September 21 as originally communicated.”
Area manager Tony Cook said the new store will be a Poundworld Plus outlet, which will create 30 new jobs.
Mr Cook said: “We’re excited to be opening our first ever store in Taunton and taking up a prime retail location in the town.
“We’re all about offering local customers their favourite brands and products at the best possible prices – we really are passionate about helping people save as much money as possible on their weekly shop.”
Snap Fitness 24-7 is opening a gym above the new store. BHS closed in the town more than a year ago after the company collapsed.
