Helping launch the board at the same time as it went on sale in outlets across the town were Taunton Deane Mayor Hazel Prior-Sankey and Somerset cricketers Jack Leach and Dom Bess.

And putting in an appearance was Mr Monopoly himself, who seemed chuffed with the board full of Taunton landmarks.

Unveiling the game, Graham Barnes for producers Winning Moves said: "A massive thank you to everyone in Taunton for getting behind the game and gave us some great suggestions, very many of which have been incorporated in the game.

"We're delighted with the board and hope we've encompassed the spirit and the essence of Taunton."

First person to get his hands on a game was Jay Biddle, 13, from Norton Fitzwarren, who won a competition to receive a free copy.

"There are seven of us in the family and we're hoping to play next week over half term," said Jay, who attends Taunton Academy.

"I own lots of different versions of Monopoly and really enjoy playing."

Cricketer Jack Leach, who has lived in Taunton all his life, said he hopes to play the game with his family over Christmas.

He said: "It's quite special. I was born in Musgrove Park Hospital and have grown up here.

"It's good to see how much it means to so many people and to see so many great charities featured on the board."

Here's the entry that won Jay Biddle a free game: "I am in love with the variety of Taunton.

"I can be walking through the lovely Vivary Park and in just a few minutes I can be in the town centre.

"It has everything you could ever need from a quick snack to a full sit down meal as well as the cricket ground, the library and St Mary Magdalene Church.

"It truly is the county town of Somerset and has more to offer than its bigger towns and cities such as Bristol and Exeter."
