A MAN has been injured after a crash outside Taunton Racecourse.

Avon and Somerset Police is appealing for witnesses after the single-car crash that allegedly happened at around 10pm last night (December 16). 

According to the police force, the crash happened outside Taunton Racecourse on the B3170 at Corfe, almost immediately after the driver failed to stop for a marked police car near the Lamb and Flag pub. 

The driver, who is believed to be the only occupant of the blue Renault Clio involved, was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital but it is not believed his injuries are life-threatening. 

The incident has been referred to Avon and Somerset Police professional standards department.
