SCORES of people are expected to brave the cold to pay tribute to a popular woman a week after she was allegedly murdered in a Taunton park.

A vicar has organised the tribute in the Priorswood area to Heather Jordan, 34, tomorrow evening (Sunday, February 25).

The Rev Debbi Turley, of St Peter's Church, wants people to "remember a life lost" following Ms Jordan's death in nearby Lyngford Park last Sunday morning.

People are being asked to meet outside the Co-op, in Priorswood Place, where Miss Jordan worked as a cleaner, at 5.45pm on Sunday.

The Rev Turley and supporters will hand out candles before walking across to the park, where the candles will be lit.

It is planned to meet up at the shelter or nearby before pausing for a time of contemplation.

She said in a Facebook post: "All are welcome and if you would like to bring flowers to lay then please feel free.

"We won't be there for a long time, but I think it's important that we do something like this to honour one of our own."

Martin Corns, 52, of Denmark Terrace, Taunton, appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Courts on Friday accused of murdering Ms Jordan.

He was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at Exeter Crown Court on Monday.
