A WELLINGTON teenager who spends her spare time helping children's fantasy dreams come true has her eyes set on the ultimate job - a real life Disney Princess.

Cathy Vicarage, 18, has her heart set on working as a Disney princess (or any other suited character) in the famous Disneyland Paris theme park.

She's already got a wardrobe brimming with ten costumes so she can dress up as a lookalike of characters like Tinkerbell, Snow White, Rapunzel, Merida and Elsa.

And she has taken on their persona, appearing at parties, street fairs and local events for a small fee and offering her services for free at charity occasions.

Her mum, Emma, said: "The only thing she wants to do is work for Disney.

"If you asked her, 'If you can't go to Disneyland, what would you do?' she'd reply, 'I don't want to think about it'."

Cathy, who studies animal management, was entranced the moment she saw her first Disney film before she could even talk and she's still captivated by the magic of it all.

She doubles up as an actress, having appeared in pantomimes from an early age with the Bradford Players, but everything comes second to Disney and she has set up Princess Wishes to take her hobby to a wide audience.

"She is passionate about what she does and nothing is better than making children’s dreams come true," said Emma.

"I help to organise everything in the background and I am supportive towards both the 'Disney dream' and the more local princessing, often acting as chauffeur.

"There are no guarantees of Cathy getting into Disneyland Paris - at 5ft 3in she's a little short for their ideal princess height and a little tall for other characters.

"But hopefully she'll finally get in. Until then she does enjoy bringing the magic closer to home."

That means entertaining mainly children, although she was booked as a Tinkerbell lookalike for a 30th birthday party earlier this year - just goes to show, you're never too old.
