DYLAN Lettley, the two-year-old Taunton boy whose life was saved thanks to a bone marrow transplant from his twin sister, finally returned home on Monday.
The brave toddler had spent more than two months in Bristol Children’s Hospital supported by his mum Sian and dad Phil.
Mum Sian said at the family home in Trendle Road, Galmington, this week: “It’s brilliant to be back together as a family after all we’ve been through.
“Dylan is really happy – even though he is missing the DVD he had in his room in hospital.”
In February Dylan was diagnosed with the rare and serious blood disorder aplastic anaemia.
His life was saved thanks to a transplant from his sister Lily. But then he needed a further serious operation on his stomach following complications.
Dylan’s treatment is far from over, as he will have hospital appointments a week for the next 12 months both at Bristol and Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
He also has to stay away from other children for another year until the risk of catching an infection subsides.
But Sian said the family were just pleased to have him back.
She added: “One plea I would make is for as many people as possible to donate blood.
“Dylan has received so much over the past few months and with that he wouldn’t be alive today.”
