A WOMAN who requested cashback at a Taunton supermarket self-checkout machine forgot to pick it up and returned to find it had been stolen.

Police are investigating after £40 was picked up at the ASDA store on Creechbarrow Road at 1.20pm on March 31.

Two people picked up the cash and went to use a different checkout, police said.

Enquiries have identified a man and a woman who were in the area and may have information which could help the police investigation.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.

No offence, but it was the womans own fault for being mindless enough for leaving a whole £40 in the first place!! How can you 'forget' that amount of cash??!! Sorry, but in these austere times, its hardly any surprise someone grabbed it!! Theres no way she can expect to get it back - hopefully this will teach her to be more vigilant in future. I may not sound very compassionate, but its the truth Im afraid!
