A GROUP of youngsters and their parents are appealing for Bishops Lydeard villagers to help them realise their dream of building a skatepark.

The children have to travel to Taunton to use their skateboards and scooters safely and would like to be able to do so closer to home.

Parents have discovered a concrete design that would minimise noise but now need to find a suitable location to build it.

Suggestions have included an area near the village hall or a redevelopment of the old BMX track between Hither Mead and Taunton Road but anyone with ideas or offers is encouraged to get in touch.

Simon Webb, a parent involved in the project, said: “The kids love it. It keeps them off the street and interests youngsters from seven years old up to teenagers.

“We would be really grateful if anyone could contribute a bit of land in the village so we can get this project off the ground.”
