Sainsbury's staff revamp Braemar House garden

COME rain or shine, visitors to Taunton ’s Braemar House can enjoy their garden thanks Sainsbury’s supermarket .

Staff members from the building team donated a few days of their time to help revive the gardens to say thank you for putting up with some disruption while the store refurbished its new petrol station.

The day care centre, which provides day care for frail people or those with mental health problems or physical disabilities, is located a few minutes’ walk from the store in Silver Street.

General merchandise manager at the Billet Street store Mandy Townsend worked closely with Braemar House following a suggestion by a colleague.

She said: “When we first went over we immediately saw the potential for what the team could do and I am proud that our store could help this local community group by creating such a beautiful space in time for the summer.

“Where the old garden was little more than a dirt patch full of dead tree branches, now it boasts a healthy green turf, a paved patio with table and chairs, a vegetable-growing patch and raised flower beds.

"We can’t wait to revisit it in a few weeks to see it once the flowers have bloomed in the summer sun!”
