Castle School bike theft sparks warning

Insp Stuart Bell Insp Stuart Bell

POLICE in Taunton have warned bike owners not to leave easy pickings for thieves.

It comes after a bike was stolen from The Castle School last Tuesday afternoon (October 2) – and returned within 24 hours after officers arrested a suspect in the town centre; and another bike was impounded by police after two men were seen acting suspiciously on Friday.

Insp Stuart Bell said: “We’re having some good successes with catching and prosecuting people responsible for stealing bikes.

“But members of the public are still making it too easy for thieves by not locking their bikes – even if you’re only in a shop for 30 seconds, please secure your bike.”
