JEREMY Browne spent one of his first days in his new Home Office job on the beat in Taunton.

The Taunton Deane MP and Government Minister, who was moved from the Foreign Office in the recent Government reshuffle, joined police officers on patrol in the town centre.

Mr Browne said: “Taunton Deane has a fantastic level of community policing with some incredibly dedicated police officers.

“My new role will mean I’m tackling crime across the country in all its forms, from shoplifting to organised crime and everything in between, including anti-social behaviour, financial crime, domestic violence and online crime.

“The work of the police in Taunton Deane will help me develop policies for tackling and reducing crime nationwide.”
