MORE than £1,400 was raised for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment appeal last week.

The cash will be used by the County Gazette-backed SURE to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.

Donations included £1,133 from Ali Burrough from a cream tea and cash in lieu of her father’s 80th birthday; £132.50 from The Book People, who sold books to Debenhams staff; and £15 left at the Beacon Centre by D.G. and M.J. Alford.

The 5p collection from the Beacon Centre was £133.95. The amount raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette is now £303,668.
