A LARGE field could soon be swamped by almost 20,000 solar panels.

Lumicity Ltd wants to put 19,640 photovoltaic (PV) panels and create a massive solar park at Grange Farm, Nynehead.

The firm has applied for planning permission to Taunton Deane Council – a public consultation period ends on November 12.

PV panels convert sunlight into electricity and would power hundreds of homes.

Plans for the site also include transformer stations, a sub-station, security fencing around the perimeter of the farm and access gates.

Gwilym Wren, clerk of Milverton Parish Council, said: “The council will make arrangements for a site visit a week on Saturday and formulate its comments at the next meeting on November 5.”
