A FAMILY from Wellington caught up in a 'once in a generation' storm on the east coast of America has returned home.
Last week, the County Gazette reported how Maria and Graham Kerr were in New York City celebrating their silver wedding anniversary with their two teenage children when Hurricane Sandy lashed the eastern part of the country, killing at least 185 people.
They were due to fly back home last Tuesday but travel chaos forced them to wait until Saturday (November 3).
Speaking from her home in Wellington, Maria said: “We finally left late Saturday night and arrived home about 3pm Sunday. I went straight to work on Monday at 8am!”
