THE spirits will soar and the streets will sparkle when the town’s Christmas lights are switched on tonight (December 1).

A range of entertainment will start at 4pm, including the Wellington Majorettes and Wellington Pantomime Group’s cast of Alice in Wonderland.

The crowds will also be able to hear children from the town’s schools in the Big Sing, see the nativity scene by Wellesley Park School and catch a glimpse of the donkey from Sunnyside Donkeys.

There will be a free roundabout for little ones, carol singing and a Christmas message delivered by the Bishop of Taunton.

All the celebrations take place in High Street with traders opening late.
A Celebration of Light will also take place in the Quaker Meeting House.

Youngsters from Beech Grove Primary School will switch on the lights at 5.30pm.
