THREE fire engines were called to a property near Wellington last night (January 21) after a chimney fire spread into the roof.
Crews attended the incident at Sawyers Hill in West Buckland at 9pm, using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to put the fire out and stripping roof tiles off and removing part of the chimney flue from the outside wall.
Firefighters returned to the scene at 1am to carry out an inspection and confirmed that the fire was extinguished.
