VINTAGE fire engines were on display at Wellington Fire Station.
Families visited the station to mark its 50th anniversary on Saturday (June 22), with youngsters given the chance to look around engines and grill firefighters.
The station, on North Street, was officially opened by chairman of the county fire brigade committee Lt Col R M S Baynes on July 22, 1963.
It was the 12th station to be built in Somerset and cost just £8,500. In 2011, the original fire station doors were replaced with an up and over door.
In their 48-year life, the old doors were opened more than 12,000 times for operational calls.
