GRAB your wellies because it’s time for the sixth annual World Wellington Boot Throwing Championship on Saturday.
The event at Court Fields School, which will feature adult and under-tens welly throwing contests, plus a host of other events.
Waitrose is organising a ‘decorate a welly’ competition and WAG (Wellington Action Group for Dogs) will be hosting a dog show with several prize-winning categories including cutest puppy, best child handler, golden oldie, best rescue dog, dog most like its owner and waggiest tail.
Freddie Parker will also be putting on a dog and duck display alongside Stephen Harrison’s gundog demo and live music events will begin at 2pm from a collective of musicians from the Wellington Folk Music sessions.
There will also be bouncy castles, children’s entertainers, face painting, a barbecue, hog roast, refreshments and several stands.
Wellington Majorettes will give a display before athe official opening at midday by Wellington Mayor, David Mitton.
Cllr Mitton said: “It’s a great event that we hold every year here in Wellington and is a family-fun day. We try to beat the world record for welly throwing and have lots of categories and prizes for people taking part. I encourage everyone to come along and get involved in all the fun.”
